Most Rev. Vincent Sowah Boi-Nai, SVD the Catholic Bishop of Yendi Diocese on September 26, 2020 ordained two deacons to the presbyteral order at St. Martin’s Pastoral Centre, Sunson near Yendi. In attendance were Most Rev. Gabriel Edoe Kumordji, SVD the Bishop of Keta- Akatsi, Monsignor Thomas Anamoo Rector of St. Victors Major Seminary. Others were, the Vicar General of the Diocese, parents of the newly ordained, friends and representatives of Societies and Association in the Diocese.
In his homily, Bishop Boi-Nai, encouraged the newly ordained to preach the gospel with joy, meditate on the Law of God, believe what they read, teach what they believe and put into practices what they teach. Further, they are to live an exemplary life that attracts the followers to Christ. And they are to strive to live after the example of the Good Shepherd who came not to be served but to serve and to seek out those who were lost.
Rev. Fr. Joseph Megbenya comes from from Ave-Hevi in the Volta Region of Ghana. He was born to Mr. and Mrs. Megbenya on the 15th September, 1976. He is the second born of five children. He had his basic education in Ave-Hevi Basic and Junior Secondary School and completed in the year 1992. He had his secondary school education at Akuse Senior Secondary school. After completion of his secondary school, he went to teach in Wovenu Senior secondary in Tadzewu. From there he enrolled in Akatsi Teacher Training College from 1997 and completed in the year 2000. Fr. Joseph attended St. Victor’s Major Seminary. Rev. Fr. Samuel Owusu Mensah was on 6th January, 1980 at Abuakwa in the Ashanti Region to late Mr. kwaku Mensah and Madam Teresah Abena Yeboah.
He is the fourth born of his parents. He started his education at Abuakwa R/C primary and Abuakwa L/A Junior High School respectively. For his secondary school education he attended St. Hubert Seminary, Kumasi in the year 2000 and completed in 2004. After Secondary school he had his one year post Secondary education in the same school in the 2004 and 2005 academic year.
In 2006, he got admission to continue his formation into the priesthood at St. Paul’s Major Seminary, Sowutuom – Accra. He had both his spiritual year and philosophical studies in Sowutuom. After completing his studies at Sowutuom he proceeded to St. Peter’s Regional Seminary, Pedu- Cape Coast, for his theological studies in 2010 and 2011 academic year and completed in 2015.
The newly ordained on their part expressed their appreciation to the Bishop and all who have journeyed with them.
